BUSKA BO IDENTIDAT — FIND YOUR IDENTITY
BBI Foundation is a Dutch Caribbean community
foundation based in the Netherlands providing
programs that heal intergenerational trauma,
restore cultural identity, and empower youth
and adults to reach their fullest potential.
We serve African descended and Dutch Caribbean
communities whose identity has been blurred,
compressed, or wounded by the history of slavery,
colonialism, and systemic disadvantage.
---
WHY THIS FOUNDATION EXISTS
Research confirms what many Dutch Caribbean people
already carry in their bodies and behavior:
the trauma of slavery travels through generations.
Intergenerational slavery trauma lives in our
epigenetics, our behavioral patterns, our relationship
with authority, our self-worth, and how we see our
own possibilities in Dutch society.
This is not weakness. This is history living in
the present. And it can be healed.
BBI Foundation exists to interrupt that cycle —
for this generation and the ones that follow.

WHAT WE DO
1. Community Healing Workshops
Structured group sessions for Dutch Caribbean
communities in the Netherlands that create safe
space to name, share, and begin releasing
intergenerational trauma rooted in slavery.
Grounded in evidence-based psychology and African
and Caribbean cultural healing wisdom.
2. Ancestry and Identity Research — Buska Bo Identidat
Supporting Dutch Caribbean individuals in tracing
their African and Caribbean roots through ancestry
research, DNA testing guidance, family tree work,
and cultural recovery programs. Knowing where you
come from heals something words alone cannot reach.
3. Youth Identity Programs
Teaching Dutch Caribbean children and teenagers
about their African and Caribbean history, their
cultural identity, and their worth — from their
own perspective, not a colonial one. Programs
designed to build unshakeable identity from the
inside out.
4. Educational Resources on Slavery Trauma
Guides, readings, and workshop materials grounded
in African and Caribbean history and the latest
research on intergenerational trauma healing,
epigenetics, and post-colonial identity recovery.
5. Workshops and Training for Organizations
For schools, community organizations, churches,
and companies in the Netherlands seeking cultural
competency, Dutch Caribbean inclusion, and
trauma-informed healing frameworks.
